The KT Flap Valve is typically installed on the end wall or cross culvert on the tidal side of a causeway or dike. It features a top-hinged designed that allows the valve to move freely, responding to pressure differences on either side. The valve closes automatically by its own weight when water pressure on the front side exceeds the pressure on the back, effectively sealing the flow. When the front water level drops and the back pressure increases, the flap valve opens, allowing water to discharge through opening. This design ensures efficient, self-regulating water flow control.
